As the national service, advocacy and membership organization for the live performing arts field, APAP is dedicated to developing and supporting a robust, performing arts presenting, booking and touring industry and the professionals who work within it.

Connection

APAP|NYC Conference

The annual members conference, APAP|NYC, is an unmatched opportunity to learn about our industry and network with other professionals. You can engage in professional development, attend live performance showcases, participate in the world's largest performing arts marketplace, network with colleagues and conduct business. Additional registration fees apply.

Year-Round Community

Through monthly “town-hall” style meetings, speed-dating, affinity groups and our online platform, you’ll have ample opportunities to engage with the wide range of APAP’s membership through APAP|365 year-round programming.

Affinity Groups

Part of APAP’s year-round programming, APAP members-only Affinity Groups offer you the opportunity to connect and build community with other APAP members in similar roles or organizations or with shared interests or identities. You can connect with your peers, share information, and learn together with those who may have similar experiences to your own.

Spotlights

Spotlights is APAP’s bi-weekly, members-only e-newsletter, featuring important updates on APAP programs and benefits, industry news, funding opportunities, job openings, and member news. When you become a member, make sure to add your staff to your membership profile, so they can receive the newsletter, too!

Services and Programming

Leadership and Professional Development

Through its intensive workshops and timely programs, APAP helps leaders thrive in a changing performing arts industry, whether you are an emerging leader or a seasoned professional. APAP also cultivates leaders in cohorts like the Emerging Leadership Institute and Young Performers Career Advancement program and spearheads field initiatives like Building Ethical, Equitable Partnerships, the Arts Compensation Project and the 10/20/30 REDI Pledge.

APAP Live Performance Calendar

The APAP Live Performance Calendar is a growing, multidisciplinary online showcase of in-person and online performances and events---fueled by the diverse community of APAP members and showcased to the world. While the calendar can be viewed by all, submitting an event is an exclusive benefit for APAP members!

APAP Job Bank and Career Center

The most popular page on APAP’s website, the APAP Job Bank showcases performing arts field jobs from around the country. Members and the field at large may search and post job openings online in one of the most popular performing arts job banks. As an APAP member, you receive a discount on your job postings.

Advocacy

Working with our advocacy partners as part of the Performing Arts Alliance (PAA), APAP represents our members’ interests before the U.S. Congress, the White House and federal agencies. In addition to communications from APAP, you’ll be automatically subscribed to receive regular advocacy updates from PAA about national, state and local issues that matter to you. 

Membership Directory and Artists Roster

All APAP members are readily available to you any time of day in our online Membership Directory and Artists Roster. You can search on a number of criteria and print versions of either directory that can be used as reference tools for connecting with the contacts you need!

APAP Programming Calendar

A popular member tool is the APAP Programming Calendar, which helps you visualize 14 months (August-September) and lists many important dates and holidays, including religious holidays for the that year and years into the future. Each APAP member organization and all registered APAP|NYC attendees receive a free copy. You can also order additional calendars for the member price of only $5.

Funding and Grant Opportunities

APAP offers grant programs exclusively to APAP members designed to provide support for organizations and individuals around key initiatives. Not only do the grants help artists, agents, managers, presenters and promoters learn from each other and from the audiences they serve, but APAP also shares the lessons from grantee projects broadening the knowledge of the field.

Real Talk in Real Time: The APAP Listening Lounge

As performing arts professionals, we need a place to commune and connect regularly. As your service association, we want to meet with you “face-to-face” to check in with you, have the conversations you want to have, and hear what’s on your mind, as we pivot to serve your needs, which are ever-changing and more dynamic than ever. These APAP members-only conversations that take place every first Wednesday of the month.

APAP Affinity Groups

NEW! Affinity Groups provide opportunities for you to "meet your people" to discuss and address issues of common concern. A members-only benefit year-round, APAP Affinity Groups will be open to the public during APAP|NYC+. 

Arts Action Fund

APAP members receive free membership to Americans for the Arts' Arts Action Fund at the Advocate level. The Americans for the Arts is the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. The Arts Action Fund seeks to engage citizens in education and advocacy in support of the arts and arts education!

Visa Technical Assistance

By request, APAP makes visa support letters and technical assistance available to members for an additional fee of $100. APAP also supports ArtistsFromAbroad.org, a website that provides guidance and tips on securing visas for foreign guest artists as well as the latest rules and regulations, downloadable toolboxes, worksheets, forms and links.

ArtsReady Affinity Membership

ArtsReady, an initiative of South Arts, is a web-based emergency preparedness platform designed to provide arts and cultural organizations with customized business continuity plans for post-crisis sustainability. APAP member organizations may join ArtsReady for just $150 for their first year - that's a 50% discount!
