Action Alert: 4 things you can do to support the performing arts

With most of the U.S. Congress in recess and the election just three weeks away, there are many things you can do to support the performing arts at this time.

  1. The house passed the $2.2 trillion COVID-19 "HEROES" bill on October 2. While it’s unlikely a relief bill will pass soon, it is clear that Congress has a responsibility to respond to the continuing effects and needs brought on by the pandemic. Contacting your Congressional representatives is one of the most important things you can do. Please also participate in this Performing Arts Alliance COVID-19 relief campaign today, and let Congress know that the arts are essential and that arts workers are essential.

  2. While the census deadline is a moving target, the current deadline is October 31, 2020. Among other things, the results of the Census impacts how federal funding is distributed for the next ten years. Be sure you, your staff and your audiences take the Census! Given the lack of clarity around the deadline, it's very important that you take the census now.

  3. Sign onto “To Rebuild and Reimagine the United States Post-Pandemic, We Must Put Creative Workers to Work,” a new collaborative Creative Workforce proposal developed by a collective of more than 100+ cultural entities. APAP has endorsed this policy proposal along with more than 1,600 other organizations and individuals. We encourage you to review it and consider adding your endorsement to the growing list.

  4. Most importantly, VOTE!
